Energy is meant to empower! But instead its generation has lead to climate change, pollution, wildlife loss, natural resource depletion, rising sea levels and what not. We have created a dent. Now, it is up to us to fix it.
SRM Indian Energy Conference is a platform fully dedicated to discuss, debate and analyze energy and its future across the seven seas. Instead of creating awareness, we take a step further and develop a panel where we look into major energy issues around the globe and create solutions that might generate a successful impact. Set in an MUN model, SRM IEC aims at providing you a chance to represent countries, organizations or individuals at a conference simulating international and national level discussions and in turn work on crucial issues and solutions in energy and its relevant sectors.
EWB-India has been established as a non-profit Society, under the Society’s Act, to involve engineering students and professionals in a movement of constructive change. Our student chapter at SRM University, strongly believes in the ’4C’ policy: Creating a new generation of global engineers; Contributing in meeting the set millennium goals of our nation; Collaborating for projects aimed at empowering communities to meet their basic human needs; Changing our surroundings to facilitate a healthy tomorrow. Our motive is to help society by applying our technical knowledge, ideas and innovations to solve matters of crucial interest. The well-rounded team includes students from various fields of engineering and hopes to engage in projects from all technical aspects.
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."
— Jane Goodall
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am honoured to be the Secretary General of SRM Indian Energy Conference 2017. It is my utmost pleasure to invite you all to the second edition of SRM IEC that is to take place on the 12th and 13th of August.
I'm sure you have all come across this over-used definition: Energy is the capacity to do work. However, the term 'energy' represents much more than that. Be it in the wind, in water, in the depths of the earth or in the sun: Energy prevails everywhere. Energy runs our lives. Energy decides our future. This alone establishes the need to focus more of our efforts on energy and the plethora of disciplines it encompasses.
SRM IEC will serve this purpose, by involving enthusiastic youngsters in discussions on pressing matters such as sustainable development, clean energy and climate change. Are you thinking "Sure, that makes me a responsible citizen, but where's the fun?"? SRM IEC, set in an MUN model, hopes to give you the complete experience of being a delegate. Represent a country or an organization, show-case your debating skills, enhance your knowledge of current affairs and network with some of your most erudite peers.
In the second edition of SRM IEC, we've included new committees with agendas that are hip and happening, in the hope that delegates will find them more relatable and thus improve their contribution to the committee and in turn enhance the quality of debate.
My team, the Secretariat, has worked very hard to bring to you a conference that will prove to be constructive, riveting and unique. We are psyched to meet you at the conference and hope you have a remarkable experience!
The Secretary General
SRM IEC 2017.
